Can you stow a dismantled Firearm in Cargo without amunition for transportation reasons on an airplane?

I am curious about if I would be able to take my .45 LDA semi-auto Dismantled in my Cargo along with some of my other belongings with me on an airplane. or would I get into trouble for it? am I allowed to transport a firearm? I know everything has changed since 9/11 and I want to move from KS to CA.. IDK help if you can.. Thanks It is a Model 1911 Semi-Auto easily taken apart and cannot be accessed in Cargo and if it could it could not be fired without ammunitions.. I just want to take it with me to CA I have a conceal Carry permit, but it is for Kansas only.. I am an Ex-Police Officer and still have my IDs, but this not a patrol mans style firearm
