Jungle Fever?!?

I recently told my friends and stepmother that I'm interested with being romantically involved with asians. The problem is that I'm african american( I'm mixed with other ethnicties which includes chinese but in a small percentage) but nobody really accepts it. My mom exclaimed I just can't handle a black guy, and some of my friens say I'm turning my back on my own kind. I really don't get it...it's like I like being with guys with different ethnic backrounds....black, asian, latino, middle eastern,etc..but it bugs me cause the people who's close to me don't even approve of it. What do you think I should do to handle the situation with my mom, and my friends?
