I can't beat Cloud (In Olympus Colosseum) on Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories for PS2! =[!?!?

Talking about in Olympus Colosseum for PS2 where you have to fight him also I just started this game haven't got the hang of the card stuff yet lol.. what should I do? Is their any tricks or should I just go back to more heartless battles to level up my hitpoints? Also what is the max hp Sora can have? Thanks in advance =/
